(Springfield, MO) — As the president spoke in Missouri, people in the Ozarks were watching Washington to see what will happen next with healthcare legislation.

Dr. James Lofgren runs “Giving Back” dental in Springfield. Although the health care bill isn’t a dental bill, he’s following the developments.

Staff in the office estimate more than half of the people who come to the doctor don’t have dental insurance. Dr. Lofgren tries to give the patients who sit in his chairs less expensive care than a typical dental office. Right now, he says he’s succeeding. And that success comes with out government help.

TREATING OUR TROOPS! - It’s no trick, we want your treats!

Donate your unopened treats Sunday, November 1st between 2:00 and 4:00 PM at our dental office conveniently located at 3259 E. Sunshine, Suite K. in Springfield, MO.

Children who wish to bring in their “unopened” Halloween candy will be given one raffle ticket for each one pound of candy collected. Following our collection time we will be drawing for some fabulous prizes including a mountain bike, Ipods, MP3 players, a US savings bond and several other prizes too numerous to mention. Here is your chance to show our brave service men and women how much you appreciate their dedication for serving our country. We will also be having soldiers with the Armed National Guard attending our event and bringing along the humvee for the kids to see. What a spooktacular idea!

We are asking for your help in supporting this fabulous idea by making a donation to help us make this event a great success. We are looking for any donation you are able to make whether it is a door prize for the children’s raffle or possibly a cash donation to help with the shipping cost to send all candy to Operation Gratitude. They will in return make individual packages for our troops and ship them overseas to our brave servicemen and women serving our country. This is a very unique idea that has been used in dental offices all over the United States. I believe we will be the first office to participate in this program not only in our area but possibly the whole State of Missouri.

What a wonderful idea to show our troops how much our children support them for what they are doing for our country.

If you are able to make any form of a donation, please feel free to contact me, Robin Walsh at our office 882-2444. If it is not during our normal business hours you may also reach me on my cell at 496-0082. If you need anything directly from Dr. Lofgren, please also feel free to let me know so that I can get that information to you as soon as possible.

We are so excited to see just how much candy we can collect locally. Last years nationwide event collected over 10,000 pounds of candy. Now isn’t that sweet! Halloween is creeping upon us so please contact me as soon as possible if you have any further questions.

“TREATING OUR TROOPS”
Local Dentist Takes a Stand Against Sweets this Halloween
Springfield, MO

One area dentist is redefining the meaning “sweet deal!” This Halloween, trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to Giving Back Dental” and receive 1 raffle ticket per pound of candy donated. With each child receiving a minimum of at least one ticket. Dr. James Lofgren is leading this anti-decay movement by raffling away fabulous prizes which have been generously donated by local businesses and supporters, one of which includes an Apple ipod in exchange for cavity-provoking candy.

Ditch the candy, that’s what we’re saying. Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily and flossing between the teeth are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost,” says Dr. James Lofgren from “Giving Back Dental.” “Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, and feel great about supporting our troops in Iraq.” Parents have an opportunity to receive coupons towards a full exam, xrays and adult cleaning at a ”greatly” reduced rate of $85.

Global sugar consumption for kids increases by about 2% annually and currently sits at 50 million tons per year, which means parents need to be sure their kids teeth are being cared for more than ever. Candy, as well as hurting children’s teeth, can lead to hyperactivity and weight gain. In some cases, the wrong types of candy can also lead to broken teeth and damaged braces.

Candy will be collected at “Giving Back Dental” Sunday, the day after Halloween only from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The candy must be unopened. It will then be shipped to troops overseas for our dedicated service men and women. What a great feeling to send “sweet smiles” to show our troops we support them.

“Giving Back Dental” is located at 3259 E. Sunshine, Ste. K in Springfield, MO, which emphasizes general family dental care at reduced fees. With this philosophy “Giving Back Dental” was created. Dr. Lofgren is available to provide more information at 417-882-2444, or visit “Giving Back Dental” on-line at www.givingbackdental.com. Help us give our troops a “sweet smile in exchange for your bag of sweets!”

We would like to say thank you to all those who have donated to our office to help make this event a success! Prizes and donations are updated daily!
